You, the Sandwich

If a restaurant were to name something after you, what would it be? Describe it. (Bonus points for writing a recipe!)

The sandwich that would be named after me would be a grilled Salmon BLT on Ciabatta bread. It would be called the Missa.

The recipe would be as such:

  • Salmon fillet – lightly seasoned salt and pepper
  • Roasted Garlic cream cheese
  • Butter
  • 2 slices of tomato
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 3 leaves of lettuce
  • Ciabatta bun

  • Make roasted garlic cream cheese *recipe to follow* *best to make at least a day prior*
  • Season salmon fillet
  • Grill salmon fillet until fully cooked
  • Pan fry bacon to crispy
  • Slice tomato
  • Cut a Ciabatta bun in half
  • Spread roasted garlic cream cheese on the heel half of the bun *as much or as little as desired
  • Spread butter on the top half of the bun *as much or as little as desired
  • Place Salmon fillet on heel of the bun
  • Place bacon on top of the salmon fillet
  • Place tomato slices on top of bacon
  • Place lettuce on top of tomato slices
  • Place top half of bun on the lettuce
  • Cut in half diagonally – optional

Roasted Garlic Cream Cheese:

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 F
  • Peel garlic skins of the garlic (or buy pre-peeled garlic) ~ I usually use about 3 – 6 heads of garlic depending on how much cream cheese I am using. 3 for a smaller container, 6 for a larger container
  • Place garlic cloves on a piece of aluminum foil
  • Drizzle about 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  • Mix together, then fold foil up at the top almost like a triangle, make sure it is closed completely
  • Place foil package on a baking sheet and place into the oven
  • “Bake” for 45 minutes
  • Once out of the oven let the foil cool off, once cool put all the garlic and olive oil onto a plate or in a bowl
  • Mash the garlic into a pulp, and mix the olive oil in
  • Mix the roasted garlic puree into the cream cheese (you could do this on the plate or bowl the garlic is in)
  • Transfer back into the cream cheese container
  • Put roasted garlic cream cheese into the fridge and let sit overnight as a minimum

My mum says that her dish would be a plate of pan-fried crispy bacon. But of course it would be pork bacon. She says that turkey bacon would be alright but she would rather have it be pork.
